1945 | With Mr. Hans-Georg Wezel taking over the management of the company, the production of flexible shafts is expanded to include compressed air and butchery machines. |
1954 | Founding of the subsidiary BIAX-Werkzeuge GmbH & Co. |
1968 | Foundation of BIAX GmbH in Steckborn (CH). |
1989 | Mr. Ulrich Merkle, a qualified business economist, will become the managing partner. This means that the third generation of the family will take over the management of the company. |
1993 | Founding of the EFA Processing Equipment Company in Omaha (USA). |
1997 | Certification of the company according to DIN-ISO 9001. |
1998 | Foundation of BIAX-Italia S.r.I. in Rovereto (I). |
1998 | Acquisition of the SIG-Airtool Division in Neuhausen am Rheinfall (CH). |
2000 | Introduction of a modern EAP system. |
2000 | Continuous expansion of the machine park with modern CNC machining centers. |
2001 | Relocation of BIAX GmbH from Steckborn to Neuhausen am Rheinfall (CH). |
2003 | Construction and occupancy of a new production and administration building in Maulbronn. |
2004 | Certification of the company according to DIN EN ISO 9001-2000. Regular recertifications in the following years. |
2010 | Introduction of a repair service with complete overhaul in the in-house repair workshop. |
2012 | Introduction of the innovative pneumatic robot spindle system “RSC-Modular” with deflection. |
2014 | Establishment of the competence center for automated deburring at the Maulbronn headquarters. |
2015 | Opening of the Scraper Academy with regular one-week scraper seminars. |
2019 | ANNIVERSARY – 100 years of Schmid & Wezel |
2019 | The anniversary model of the flexible shaft drive “MB 50 G” comes onto the market. |
2019 | The new managing director will be Mr. Torsten Wiesenmaier, who has been the company’s authorized signatory since 2013. |
2019 | Market launch of the new electric micro grinder “SE 50 Silent Grinder”. |
2020 | Certification in the area of export/customs as AEO-C (authorized economic operator) |
2020 | Relocation of the production of our milling cutters from the Neuhausen (CH) plant to Germany. |
